Grandmaster G. S. Torres (塔嘉利 师公; Tă Jiā Lì Shī Gōng) is the most senior student of Grandmaster Peter Kwok and the recognized head of the Peter Kwok lineage. He served as Director of Peter Kwok’s Kung Fu Academy for more than seven years and as Chief Instructor for another seven, and in 1982 earned the rank of 10th degree black belt—the highest rank ever awarded by Grandmaster Kwok to a student.
With more than 57 years of training and 53 years of teaching, Grandmaster Torres is known for deep mastery across Shao Lin Quan, Tai Ji Quan, Xing Yi Quan, Ba Gua Zhang, and Qi Gong. He has produced students who hold the ranks of Master and Shifu, and he is widely respected as a coach, judge, and referee, including top-level certifications with the U.S. Chinese Kuo Shu Federation and international championships.
Grandmaster Torres is the Director of Phoenix-Dragon Kung Fu Academy in Tampa, Florida, and regularly teaches workshops and seminars nationwide. He has longstanding affiliations with leading martial arts organizations, including lifetime memberships in major U.S. traditional kung fu and Kuo Shu federations, and ongoing membership with the Guang Ping Yang Tai Chi Association.
In addition to his martial accomplishments, Dr. Torres brings extensive medical and therapeutic expertise to his teaching. He holds advanced degrees in education and health sciences, including a Doctor of Medicine, Doctor of Chiropractic, and a Ph.D. in Martial Arts Philosophy and Science, along with credentials in physiological therapeutics and medical acupuncture. His integrated approach emphasizes both martial application and health, longevity, and self-cultivation.
Grandmaster Torres also serves his community through decades of volunteer leadership and mentorship, including significant service with the Boy Scouts of America and as a long-time judge for science and engineering fairs at regional, state, and international levels.
